Alternative solution. Step 1: Uninstall games from Steam on MacBook

Steam does not touch games and user-generated files when you uninstall Steam. Therefore, if you want to free up some disk storage and properly delete a Steam, you will first need to delete all downloaded games. To do so, do the following:

MacBook OSX:

  1. Open Steam and select Library tab on the top of the menu
  2. delete Steam from MacBook

  3. In the Library menu, right-click on the game and choose Delete Local Content from the drop-down menu
  4. delete Steam from MacBook

  5. Click Delete to confirm that you want to delete the game from MacBook
  6. delete Steam from MacBook

  7. Do the same with all installed games

Step 2: Delete Steam from MacBook

Once you clean your MacBook from all installed games, you may proceed to delete Steam itself.

MacBook OSX:

  1. Open Finder
  2. In the Finder sidebar, click Applications
  3. Select Steam and drag it to the Trash (located on the right side of the Dock)
  4. Open Finder and go to your {Hard Drive>Users>[Your MacBook Username]\Library\Application Support folder}
  5. Find Steam folder and also drag it to the Trash.
