What is Marquis?

Marquis is a potentially unwanted program that belongs to the browser hijacker category. The hijacker is generally browser extension that can make changes to the configuration of the browser without the user’s permission. As a rule, the search engine becomes the main focus of attention and this case is no exception. Once it gets on your Mac, hijacker sets https://www.searchmarquis.com/ as the primary homepage/search engine of your browser. This is done in order to make users visit certain websites via redirections. Indeed, if you try to search using it, you will be redirected repeatedly to partner sites. Furthermore, browser hijacker continuously analyzes and collects your private information, such as passwords from accounts or credit card details, then forwards it to third parties for unknown purposes. The only way to get rid of it – remove Marquis search right now.

How Marquis gets on your Mac?

Usually, Marquis appears on users’ Macbooks after users get redirected to rogue sites claiming that an Adobe Flash Player update needs to be installed, and end up installing it. As a result, several pieces of adware, malware and potentially unwanted software, including Marquis, get installed on their Macs. Other ways for Marquis and other browser hijackers to end up on users’ machines are users installing free software and not opting out of extra programs that are also offered for installation, or users opening files downloaded from shady websites. If that had happened and Marquis took over your browser, you may follow our tutorial to remove Marquis from your Mac.
