What is Search Manager?

Search Manager is a potentially unwanted program that comes as a browser extension bundled with freeware programs. This malware affects only browsers which is why we can classify it as a browser hijacker. Following infiltration, it sets itself as browser’s homepage so that a user is forced to perform search queries via a new search provider. Since Search Manager is created for advertising purposes, people will soon begin to notice that most of the provided search results lead to commercial websites. The user may also notice an increase in the number of different advertisements interfering with browsing experience and reducing the performance of the system. Hence it is essential to take immediate action to remove Search Manager from your device.

How Search Manager gets on your Mac?

Usually, Search Manager appears on users’ Macbooks after users get redirected to rogue sites claiming that an Adobe Flash Player update needs to be installed, and end up installing it. As a result, several pieces of adware, malware and potentially unwanted software, including Document Converter, get installed on their Macs. Other ways for Search Manager and other browser hijackers to end up on users’ machines are users installing free software and not opting out of extra programs that are also offered for installation, or users opening files downloaded from shady websites. If that had happened and Search Manager took over your browser, you may follow our tutorial to remove Search Manager from your Mac.
