Step 1: Remove Reimage Repair from Control Panel

Windows XP:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Control Panel.
  3. Then click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Find Reimage Repair.
  5. Click Uninstall.

Reimage Repair won’t uninstall

There are certain cases, when users cannot uninstall Reimage Repair normally, using standard Windows features in Control Panel. When users click Uninstall button they see message: “You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Reimage Repair. Please, contact your system administrator.” This happens because some process of Reimage Repair prevent attempts to uninstall it. In order to uninstall it, use Safe Mode:

For Windows XP, Vista, 7

  1. Turn off your computer;
  2. Turn it on and immediately start typing F8 button;
  3. This will open Advanced Boot Options menu;
  4. Choose Safe Mode with arrow buttons;
  5. In Safe Mode go to Control Panel and Uninstall a program and remove “Reimage Repair”.

For Windows 8/8.1 and 10

  1. Press the Win+R keys, type msconfig in box and press Enter;
  2. Switch to Boot tab, and click on Safe Boot check box;
  3. Choose the type of Safe Mode: Minimal or Network;
  4. Click OK and restart your PC;
  5. In Safe Mode go to Control Panel and Uninstall a program and remove “Reimage Repair”.

I mistakenly installed Reimage Repair, thinking that it might help me with removing a Trojan from my Windows XP but it’s causing more problems for me now including slowing down my start up and throwing a lot of pop-ups at me! So far me following your guide is working very well but I just have one question before being sure that I got rid of it: Where would I find the files you listed that need to be removed manually?

  2. I’ve uninstalled Reimage from my Programs file, but can’t delete any of the files in the Windows file. I keep getting a prompt that says a file is open, even though it isn’t. How do I get this out of my PC?

    impossible de désinstaller reimage même en mode sans echec. ca me dit toujours qu’il y a des mises à jour à terminer et de redemarrer. je redémarre mais c’est toujours impossible d’installer les mises à jour.

  4. For Windows 8/8.1 and 10

    Used the following steps and it worked fine. Thank you.

    Press the Win+R keys, type msconfig in box and press Enter;
    Switch to Boot tab, and click on Safe Boot check box;
    Choose the type of Safe Mode: Minimal or Network;
    Click OK and restart your PC;
    In Safe Mode go to Control Panel and Uninstall a program and remove “Reimage Repair”.
