What is BearShare?

Bearshare is a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) network that claims to allow users from around the world share various files. Some companies did not detect any harmful functionality in the software. However, Bearshare is often considered spyware due to its aggressive behavior. Several Antiviruses detect it as a spyware. Also, Spyware Encyclopedia writes that the BearShare file-sharing software sometimes installs together with adware or spyware and advises users who have installed it on there computer to install a good Antivirus and run a full scan of the system. In this article we will not try to categorize Bearshare but teach you how to uninstall it from your computer. The uninstallation process is not easy as the program is often not found in the add/remove programs list. And even if you find it there, it will not remove Bearshare from your PC completely.

Bearshare is mostly distributed on torrent and free download websites. Instead of downloading desired file you can get desired program you may get BearShare installed. After installation it will start to search for file you wanted to download.

How to remove BearShare from your computer?

To uninstall BearShare remove it from Control Panel, then delete all files and regkeys.

Windows XP:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Control Panel.
  3. Then click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Find BearShare.
  5. Click Uninstall.

  4. Find BearShare and click Uninstall.

Windows 8/Windows 8.1:

  1. Open the Menu.
  2. Click Search.
  3. After that click Apps.
  4. Then Control Panel.
  5. Then as in Windows 7, click Uninstall a Program under Programs.
  6. Find BearShare, select it and click Uninstall.

Some versions of BearhShare can create adware browser extension. Remove BearhShare from your browser.

Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Push Alt + F.
  3. Click Tools.
  4. Choose Extensions.
  5. Find BearShare.
  6. Click the trash can icon to remove it.

  1. Open Firefox.

  3. Choose BearShare.
  4. Click Disable or Remove button.

  8. If this button is grayed out – perform alternative steps.
