What is AdChoices?

AdChoices ads can be created by Google Adsense and such ads are perfectly legal. They can be removed using ad-blocker AdGuard. Sometimes those ads can be generated by adware called “AdChoices” and in this case you need to use antimalware products like Norton.

AdChoices (extension) is adware browser add-on for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer. AdChoices creates ads and pop-ups in browsers. These ads are misleading as they fake real Google ads on websites. It installs in ProgramData or Program Files folder and may create extensions in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. In this guide I will explain step-by-step process to remove AdChoices ads completely.

How AdChoices gets on your PC?

AdChoices (extension) installs as “bundled” offer along with free soft. While you install this or that software downloaded from the web, you may be offered to install additional program. Sometimes installation of adware can be mentioned in user license agreement. Legal “Adchoices” ads by Google can be embedded by website owners.

How to remove AdChoices from your computer?

To get rid of AdChoices completely, perform following 2 steps.

Removing from Control Panel

Windows XP:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Control Panel.
  3. Then click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Find AdChoices.
  5. Click Uninstall.

Windows 7/Windows Vista:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Then Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a Program.
  4. Find AdChoices and click Uninstall.

Windows 8/Windows 8.1:

  1. Open the Menu.
  2. Click Search.
  3. After that click Apps.
  4. Then Control Panel.
  5. Then as in Windows 7, click Uninstall a Program under Programs.
  6. Find AdChoices, select it and click Uninstall.

After that remove AdChoices from your browser.

Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Push Alt + F.
  3. Click Tools.
  4. Choose Extensions.
  5. Find AdChoices.
  6. Click the trash can icon to remove it.

Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Push Shift + Ctrl + A.
  3. Choose AdChoices.
  4. Click Disable or Remove button.

Internet Explorer:

  1. Open IE.
  2. Push Alt + T.
  3. Click Manage Add-ons.
  4. Select Toolbars and Extensions.
  5. Click Disable AdChoices.
  6. Click More information link in the left-bottom corner.
  7. Click Remove button.
  8. If this button is grayed out – perform alternative steps.

    Спасибо за пояснения. К сожалению не могу их применить, так как AdChoices не значится в списке программ моего Windows 7, а также отсутствует в обоих браузерах IE и Google Chrome. Поиск по названию AdChoices на всем компъютере также не дает результата.
    Можете ли Вы предложить иной метод?
